About this site (and the mother behind it)
chilldaemon.com is the personal project site of Jorge Raymund Maravilla โ known online as ChillseekerVic โ an information security and IT professional from Bacolod, Philippines, with 13+ years across ISO 27001, data protection, and IT operations.
The short story
In 2026 my mother, Evelyn, turned seventy. She loves puzzle games, but everything on her tablet either rushed her with timers, buried her in full-screen ads, or used tiles too small for comfort. I'm a builder by nature, so I did the obvious-in-hindsight thing: I built her a game.
ChillBrain became much more than a birthday gift. Watching Evelyn and her friends play taught me how differently older adults experience software โ how a shaking "wrong move" animation reads as scolding, how a robotic voice feels cold where a warm one feels like company, how the absence of a timer transforms stress into leisure. The game was rebuilt around those lessons, level by level, and her friends became its first (and most honest) testers.
What's on this site
- ChillBrain โ the game itself, free in your browser, also on Google Play. Dedicated to Evelyn; it says so on the opening screen.
- Guides โ practical, judgment-free articles about brain health after 60, setting up technology for older family members, match-3 strategy, and honest looks at how free games make money. Everything is written from direct experience, not recycled from other websites.
- Portfolio โ my professional side, for those who need the security person rather than the game person.
What this site believes
- Software should be kind. No dark patterns, no manufactured urgency, no punishing the player. Encouragement outperforms pressure โ in games and everywhere else.
- Older adults are a first-class audience, not an accessibility checkbox. Designing for a 70-year-old usually produces something better for everyone.
- Honesty about money. Free things cost someone something. This site's game keeps one banner outside the play area and optional rewarded videos โ and every guide about monetization tells you exactly how the sausage is made, including ours.
